About the Chocolate Milk Club
The Chocolate Milk Club is a culturally specific service developed by Chosen Vessels Midwifery Services. It was created through community-based action research to address the low breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates among African American women.
Our work centers culture, community, and care — because breastfeeding is not just nourishment, it is legacy.
Our Mission
To revive, restore, and reclaim breastfeeding as the cultural norm within our community.
Our Vision
To combine the midwifery model of care with the cultural tradition of mutual aid, inspiring African American families to breastfeed — and to support all those who do.
Why Breastfeeding Matters
Breastfeeding plays a uniquely important role in the health, development, and survival of African American babies (infants). Supporting breastfeeding means supporting stronger families, healthier outcomes, and generational wellness.
